Oeuvre en procelaine chinoise de la collection du musée Guimet
Virtual exhibition

Chinese porcelain from the 9th to the 18th century

Designed as an immersive experience that blends guided tour and journey, this exhibition offers visitors the chance to discover a fraction of the museum’s exceptionally rich collections and to explore nearly a millennium of technical and stylistic evolution.

A digital showcase for an exclusive selection of some forty iconic porcelain pieces from the museum’s collections, presented for the first time in a 3D environment.

Delicacy, transparency, cleanliness, form, technical virtuosity, symbolic motifs, echoes of the past, subtle details that never cease to amaze… The material is at the very heart of the exhibition. Porcelain is felt in every aspect of the visit, from the texture of the display surfaces to the soft light illuminating the space, and the translucency of the labels.

For this virtual exhibition, an imaginary space has been created, inspired by the museum’s iconic entrance, while transforming it and giving it new uses.

The exhibition has been meticulously designed to recreate as closely as possible the experience of a physical visit. Rain, wind, and snow also come to life before the visitor’s eyes, thanks to the use of real-time 3D; the lighting changes with the time of day; the sound is spatialized; and the Parisian weather extends beyond the exhibition hall.
